The Pilio Train: Ano Lehonia - Milies
Built in two stages, between 1892 and 1903, the railway line was a significant factor in the further development of the villages of Pilio. The construction of the railway network was supervised by Evaristo De Chirico, the father of the famous painter Giorgio de Chirico. During the construction of the network, young De Chirico was there observing the medium that would later inspire him and consistently accompany his creations.

Access & Information
The train operates from spring to autumn, daily, with 1 daily route on the mountain route. The total journey time is 1 hour and 30 minutes (with a 15-minute stop for stretching, coffee, tsipouro, and refreshments at the picturesque Ano Gatzea station).
Access to Ano Lehonia Train Station
The station is 12 kilometers from Volos. Access is via the road to Kala Nera, by bus on the Volos – Lehonia – Platanidia line (stop 50 meters from the station). Access is also possible by private car as there is a large parking area in front of the station. There are brown signs indicating the station from the adjacent road axis.
Access to Milies Train Station
Road access to Milies station is only by private car. There are limited parking spaces in the station area, the direction of which is indicated by a brown sign from the road axis leading to Milies.

Train Rental
